It was very hot and my uncle does not have air conditioning but we managed to keep cool. He was very glad to see us and showed us around to a number of places in and around Erie. Erie is an old town and shows it age but is a neat town and has a lot going for it.

On Wednesday he drove us out by the lake to a nice little restaurant with great food. David and my uncle looking over a map at lunch.
Then we went up the tower that overlooks the bay and has lots of great information. This is a picture of the tower from the parking lot.
We went out on Presque Isle which is a State Park with lots of beaches and other activities. We got out a couple of times but it was very hot. Would have been nice to sit by the beach if it would have been a bit cooler out.
That evening, we went to see my aunt in the care center she lives in. She seemed to recognize us. Due to a stroke, she is unable to speak but a few words. One needs to watch for expressions, but we talked a bit and showed her some photos of the kids which she seemed to enjoy.
Thursday, my uncle took us on a drive south of Erie to another of his favorite eating places. We went through Edinborough where one of my cousins went to college. It is a neat community. The Pennsylvania area is hilly, lots of trees, roads are curvy and it is green. A little different than the plains of Iowa. That evening we attended the playhouse production of West Side Story. On Friday, we visited my aunt and took this photo of us.

We then drove over to the Chautauqua Institute near Chautauqua New York. This was a very interestingn place to visit. There are many buildings, homes and rentals in here with such fantastic architecture in the older style, some colonial I believe.
