Vacation

The last I wrote was from Florida regarding the Tropical Storm. We left the day after Memorial Day for a week in Central Florida. Our hope was to get together with my two cousins who live there as we had not seen each other in many many years. Well, one had to leave town for business so that did not work. The other had a busy week for business so that idea was a wash.

We visited the Kennedy Space Center the first full day there. We went on the "Then and Now" tour. It was so fascinating seeing where our space history was made and is currently being made. They had just opened the Shuttle Launch Experience which was cool. You got a feel of what a launch might be like.

The next day, we spent at Epcot. That was so fascinating. We visited all the cultural centers for each country represented there. It was fascinating seeing the different architecture for each. We had lunch in Mexico and supper in England. We wanted to eat in Norway, but the main restaurant was booked for the day. At the U.S., we saw a neat presentation on the history of the U.S. There was also an outdoor stage where we saw Peter Noone and the Herman's Hermits perform a half hour concert. That was cool.

Then we went to Tampa for a day. We spent the afternoon at Busch Gardens where AJ enjoyed the roller coasters, although the big one was closed as it was being renovated. He was disappointed in that. That evening, we went to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays game against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals won. This was a nice stadium. We managed to be seated between two groups of hecklers and they got old real fast. Otherwise, we enjoyed the game. This is the night we drove through the Tropical Storm.

Saturday, we did not have anything planned during the day and due to the wind and very high humidity, we can of just had a lazy day. We did find a nice Mexican Restaurant called Amigos. No, not the fast food chain. That evening, we went to Dolly Parton's Dixieland Stampeded which was fun.

Sunday, we went to Titusville for worship. Took us a while on Saturday to decide where to go. Yes, there are churches in Orlnado. We tend to go for a more traditional, liturgical service. The ones we could determine the type of service were the contemporary. One that was traditional was having a large celebration and we did not rally want to get in on that. One other, we could not determine. We ate a nice seafood restauant in Titusville before driving back to Orlando. David and Andrew wandered over to Universal (our hotel was right there) and walked around the Main Street with the shops and restaurants.

Monday, we slept in and got ready to head home. Now, our flights were pretty good, other than the really young ones sitting behind me. On the way down, I had a child kick my seat most of the way, even after I asked them not to. It did slow down a bit, but by the end it increased. Guess they were excited about going to Disney.
