Whirlwind Weekend

Our last weekend was a whirlwind. Thursday evening we attended the Winter Concert at the high school. AJ was in Concert Band, Jazz Band and Mixed Chorus. David and I headed on down the road and stopped in Austin for the night.

Friday, we headed on down the road to Mequon, arriving around 2:30. Connected with Michelle. She was so happy to see us! Talked with her roommate, went to the library for coffeee. We then headed to Sue's for dinner. That evening we attended the Christmas at Concordia concert. Michelle is in Wind Ensemble and Kammerchor. The chapel was full and it was an enjoyable evening.

Saturday, we returned to the road (On the Road Again was kind of our theme). Weather was good until we approached the state line with Iowa. Turned to snow. We stopped in Independance trying to decide what to do. Not real bad but not good either. Headed on to Waterloo. Decided to stop for the day. Now we were about 75 miles from where we were to meed AJ after his Jazz Band contest. This was also about where the clear/snow line was. Called him and told him to go home with the band and also spoke with the band teacher. We walked over to the steak house sharing the parking lot and had a great dinner. It stopped snowing around 2 - 3 hours after we stopped.

Sunday, got up and headed home to pick up AJ. We then headed to Omaha. Found out that it would be no problem to attend the evening concert. Grandma was not able to get to the afternoon one either. She had dinner for us. Off to Seward we went. There we attended Christmas at Concordia. Also a very enjoyable evening.

Monday, we slept in, had dinner and on the road to home, returning home around 7 p.m. Had some snow flurries near home but not much.

This last weekend, we attended all three kids Christmas Concerts. I don't even want to know how many miles we drove. It was Daniel's last one (also his cousin Rachel's).

The temps are still cold here. Up to 7 above today so far.

I will post photos as soon as I can.

Well, that was our whirlwind weekend!
